Common Fish Caught on Charter Fishing Trips

Different types of fish live in different types of water. Some fish are salt- water fish, while others live only in fresh water. Some fish live in deeper water than others. Charter fishing can yield various types of fish that dock angling just cannot reach. Following is a list and description of a few species fishermen often encounter on a charter fishing trip.
Snapper
The Red Snapper exist in abundance off the panhandle of Florida and can reach sizes of up to 35 pounds. They mature at around age two and can live as long as twenty years. The Yellowtail Snapper is much smaller, reaching only about 3 pounds. Juveniles usually swim near the shore line, but adults generally venture offshore, over sandy areas.
Sea bass
A tiny offshore catch, the Bank Sea bass starts its life as a female and spontaneously reverses sexual identity after three or four spawning seasons. The Black Sea bass is a larger cousin of the family and can reach an average of 9.5 pounds. They usually live near shore, in bays or in sounds, but also frequent waters up to 425 feet deep.
Mahi-Mahi and the Marlin
Two larger species often encountered on charter trips, the mahi-mahi and the marlin are formidable foes. The mahi-mahi, like many fish species, like to swim near floating debris - trees or floating sea weed. The name mahi-mahi means "strong" in Hawaiian dialect. Marlins are large, spear-snouted fish that can reach lengths of nearly 20 feet and weights of 1,800 pounds. They are a sought-after sporting fish and flock in abundance off the shores of Ireland.
Fishing for Fun
There are thousands of species of fish that one cannot encounter from the banks of a local river or lake, so a charter is a wise option for anglers looking for adventure. Fishing is a great sport, and a way for generations to bond. Many charter companies see families year after year, generation after generation.
Fishing offers fun, challenges and food to eat. Different types of fishing require different skills, and the experience is never quite the same. Charter fishing offers the opportunity to catch fish not caught any other way, and the adventure creates memories one can always treasure.
